How to Read Your Cat's Body Language

Ears

The position of your cat's ears can tell you a lot about how they're feeling. If their ears are perked up, they're likely interested in something or feeling alert.

Tail

The position of your cat's tail can also tell you a lot about how they're feeling. If their tail is high in the air and swishing, they're likely feeling confident and happy.

Eyes

The pupils of your cat's eyes can also give you clues about how they're feeling. If their pupils are dilated, they're likely feeling excited or scared.

Fur

The way your cat's fur stands up can also tell you a lot about how they're feeling. If their fur is standing on end, they're likely feeling scared or threatened.

Mouth

If their mouth is open and their tongue is hanging out, they're likely feeling relaxed or happy.

Body Language

If they're sitting or standing upright with their ears perked up, they're likely feeling confident and alert.

Context

For example, a cat that is wagging their tail may be feeling happy or excited, but they may also be feeling aggressive if they are doing it in a threatening way.
